28 Feb 2012 | Fredrik Pålsson

Djurgården won the very important game against Linköping and is now on the right side of the line that leads to Kvalserien.

Djurgården - Linköping 2-1 SO
Tied on equal points, on one side each of the line that leads to the relegation round (Kvalserien) and with only four games left. There was no overstatement to say that the game between Djurgården and Linköping was very important. Robin Figren gave Linköping the lead with a late second period goal. But Djurgården managed to come back from that blow and tied the game at 13:33 in the third period when Mathias Tjärnqvist tipped in a shot from Andreas Holmqvist. In the shootout Linköping took the lead but Djurgården scored twice and Pontus Åberg got the game winner that took Djurgården past Linköping in the standings.

Skellefteå - HV 71 4-3
Skellefteå kept themselves in the race for the league title after beating HV71 4-3. HV71 scored the opening goal in the second period but Skellefteå turned the game around with four goals in eleven minutes. Lee Goren scored one goal and assisted on two of them. In the third period HV scored two early goals to give the game some nerve but they never managed to tie the game.

Färjestad - Växjö 3-2
An important game for Växjö who is trying to take the last playoff spot. But it was Färjestad who won the game 3-2. The game was tied 1-1 after two periods but at the start of the third period Färjestad scored two goals at 2:29 and 2:58 to take a 3-1 lead. The goals were scored by Hannes Hyvönen and Stefan Meyer (his first) and turned out to be decisive. Tomi Kallio pulled one back for the guests but Färjestad kept control and won 3-2. Other bad news for Växjö was that Mike Iggulden left the game on a stretcher with a knee injunry.

Brynäs - AIK 2-4
Brynäs was for long periods of the game the better team and had 47 shots on goal but AIK's Viktor Fasth made a great effort with 45 saves to help AIK to the win. AIK took the lead 2-0 with two goals from the super hot first line. Richards Gynge who scored five goals in the last game scored the first and the league top scorer Robert Rosén scored the second. But in the third period Brynäs tied the game with goals from Silfverberg and Larsson. But AIK quickly jumped back into the lead again when Kent McDonell scored on the power play. AIK later added 4-2 on the empty net and is now almost certain of a place in the playoffs.

Luleå - Timrå 7-2
Luleå is still leading Elitserien by five points after an easy win against Timrå. 2-1 after the first period became 7-1 already after 40 minutes. That was the second humiliating loss in a row for Timrå who lost 2-8 away to AIK on Sunday. Timrå seems to be in free fall and has now conceded 25 goals in the last four games. At least they showed some pride by winning the third period. Simon Hjalmarsson, Toni Koivisto and Niklas Olausson all scored three points for Luleå.

MoDo - Frölunda 3-0
In the only game played yesterday MoDo took a very important win with 3-0 against Frölunda. MoDo was in full control of the game and Mikael Tellqvist only needed 19 saves for the shutout. Per-Åge Skrøder and Niklas Sundström both scored 1+1.
