In season 2010-11 Atlant and Severstal faced each other in the first round in the West, Atlant had a home ice advantage and Atlant closed the series in the 6th game in Cherepovets. In current season everything repeated.

With 5 minutes to play in the third Patrick Zackrisson won a faceoff and Nikolai Zherdev with a beautiful wrister lead Atlant to the 2nd round of the West. Like last season Atlant beat Severstal in the first round with a 4:2 score and the series also ended in Cherepovets.

Dinamo Riga 3-1 Torpedo

Dinamo Riga did everything to extend the series to the 7th game. In the first they made a high pressure on Torpedo’s net by outshooting them 12-4. The goals happened only in the second, Mikelis Redlihs passed to his brother Jekabs who with a powerful wrist shot opened the scoring at 24:59. In 10 minutes Torpedo used a power-play chance. Ilya Krikunov with a nice sole move tied the game. Early in the third Sandis Ozolins passed to Mikelis Redlihs, Redlihs gave the puck to Janis Spurkts who pulled Dinamo Riga ahead. Marcel Hossa closed the game with an empty-net goal when it was only 64 seconds to play. Dinamo Riga returns the series in Niznhy Novgorod where in the last 7th game the winner will be defined.
