Quartelfinals of the Slovakian Tipsport extraliga ended

HC Kosice (1.) - HC 05 Banska Bystrica (8.) 4:1 (4:3 OT, 4:3, 0:1, 3:1, 2:1)

Last three times extaliga winner and regular season winner HC Kosice won against HC 05 Banska Bystrica 4 to 1 on games. The games were quite equalized thanks to great form of Sergei Khorosun in Banska Bystrica´s net.

HK 36 Skalica (2.) - HKM Zvolen (7.) 2:4 (3:4, 3:0, 2:4, 2:4, 3:1, 1:5)

First suprise of the play offs. The second best team after the regular season HK 36 Skalica was unable to find a recipe to beat young HKM Zvolen´s goalie Adam Trencan. According to Zigmund Palffy, scoring leader of slovak extraliga, "It´s hard to comment, the whole season we bang away but HKM Zvolen deserved promotion to the semifinal. They wanted more, they played very well." The dream to play the final of the play offs melt already after the quartefinals.

HC Slovan Bratislava (3.) - MsHK Zilina (6.) 4:1 (3:2, 4:2, 1:3, 5:2, 8:2)

This series ended as expected. After the elimination of HK SKP Poprad and HK 36 Skalica now HC Slovan Bratislava is the main rival for HC Kosice in this year's play offs.

HK Poprad (4.) - Dukla Trencin (5.) 2:4 (5:1, 4:5 SO, 1:4, 0:3, 2:1, 1:6)

Second suprise of the play-offs. A 22 points difference in the regular season meant nothing. HK Poprad dominated in the first game but after then Dukla Trencin consolidated and lost only one game.

HC Slovan Bratislava (3.) - Dukla Trencin (5.)

HC Bardejov won second Slovakian league, called 1.liga. HC Bardejov is affiliated to HC Kosice so they can´t promote to Slovak extraliga. So the last team of the Slovak extraliga HK Nitra avoid relegation battle to HC Bardejov and stays in Slovak extraliga also for next season
