Drama in Sweden after long overtime when both semi finals now are tied.
AIK - Skellefteå 4-5 OT
The second semi final between AIK and Skellefteå was a real thriller that was decided in the third overtime period after 110 minutes and 49 seconds of play. The hero was Jimmie Ericsson who scored the game winning goal on power play. Earlier Ericsson also scored the 4-4 goal in regular time.
AIK came out strong and had 2-0 already after six minutes, after goals by Richard Gynge and Johannes Salmonsson, the second one after a mistake by Skellefteå's goalie Joacim Eriksson. Skellefteå had difficult to create chances but with 28 seconds left of the first period Joakim Lindström scored the important 2-1 goal to give Skellefteå some contact again.
In the second period Skellefteå came out as a new team and took over the game. At 5:25 the equalizer came when Oscar Möller scored his first goal of the game. His second came seven minutes later when he scored on a penalty shot. AIK had lost a 2-0 lead and had no momentum in the game but they got a penalty and only 38 seconds after the 2-3 goal the game was tied again after a goal by Christian Sandberg.
In the third Skellefteå still felt like the strongest team but once again AIK scored on a power play with a hard and high shot from Stefan Johansson from the blueline. But a great individual effort by Jimmie Ericsson would tie the game again.
Färjestad - Brynäs 2-4
It was a close game with different faces but in the end it was Brynäs who stood there as winners with 4-2. The game was scoreless after the first but Brynäs took a 2-0 lead in the second.
At first Brynäs showed their great capacity on power play when Calle Järnkrok scored. Mats Lavander doubled the lead before the end of the second. At the start of the third Rickard Wallin scored already after 20 seconds for Färjestad. After that you would expect an explosion from Färjestad but Brynäs kept in control of the game and Jonathan Granström extended the lead to 3-1.
Christian Berglund pulled one back for Färjestad with a goal that was allowed after a long video review. Färjestad pushed forward for an equalizer but Brynäs got the last word when Jakob Silfverberg scored on the empty net.
After the 2-4 goal it was a lot of feelings on both teams and Färjestad's Hannes Hyvönen got a double major + game penalty for both elbowing and roughing.
