Czech Republic scores 8 goals Denmark to start WJC with victory

Team Czech Republic starts at WJC which is held in Czech cities Brno, Znojmo, Breclav with a big victory over Denmark 8-4.

 
 
 
 
This game should be held in Brno but due to Czech Extraliga finals where Kometa Brno this game was moved to Znojmo. For team Denmark it was the second game at WJC, yesterday they were beaten by Canada 1-6.



With first minutes of the game Denmark showed that they will try to play aggressive with a lot of body checks. At 6th minute Dominik Volek used a pass from Adam Chlapik to open the score in power-play. One of Danish attacks ended with Oliver Bjorkstrand strike, which tied it. From first 20 minutes it was seemed that Denmark can fight with Czech but the second denied all hopes. Czech team scored 6 times with Soumelidis, Prochazka, Stencel, Vrana, Simon, Slovacek’s goals. Between 5th and 6 th goals of Czech Denmark got a chance to make a comeback. Bjorkstrand with a nice wrist shot and Kristoff Lauridsen beat Czech goalie Marek Langhammer. In the last period teams changed with goals Marco Illemann scored for Denmark and Jakub Vrana scored the second goal of the night for Czech. Eustathios Soumelidis and Oliver Bjorkstrand became the best players of the game.
