31 May 2012 | - eurohockey.com

There are eight candidates for our combined April/May Player of the Month award: Patrick Thoresen, Jan Laco, Ilya Nikulin, Niklas Svedberg, Jakob Silfverberg, Alexander Yeryomenko, Sven Felski and Jani Tuppurainen.

Once again it is time to name the European Player of the Month. Just like last year we choose to have a combined April/May vote. Only players of European clubs can win the award as the most outstanding player of the month(s).

It is up to you to decide the winner of these candidates in our Facebook vote.

Patrick Thoresen, SKA St. Petersburg
Thoresen scored 18 points in the World Championship, by far the best ever by a Norwegian player. He was also named to the All-Star Team.

Jan Laco, LEV Poprad
Laco had a great World Championship that took Slovakia to the final. He was also named to the All-Star Team.

Ilya Nikulin, Ak Bars Kazan
Nikulin was Russia's best defenseman when they won the gold medals at the World Championship. He was also named to the All-Star Team.

Niklas Svedberg, Brynäs
The goalie's performance in the Elitserien playoffs took Brynäs to the Swedish gold medals.

Jakob Silfverberg, Brynäs
Silfverberg, who scored 20 points in the playoffs, was one of the main reasons why Brynäs won the Swedish Championship.

Alexander Yeryomenko, KHL MVP in play-off
The Dynamo Moscow goalie played all 20 games and was named KHL play-off MVP when his team won the championship.

Sven Felski, Eisbären Berlin
Felski won his 6th championship with Eisbären Berlin (record champion in DEL) in his 1000th game for the Eisbären.

Jani Tuppurainen, JYP
Tuppurainen's 7 goals and 8 assists was one of the biggest influences for JYP's Finnish championship success and those points brought him also a place in Team Finland in the World Championship.
