Western Conference

Atlant Moscow Oblast (8) - SKA St. Petersburg (1) 1-6

Outsiders Atlant weren't able to repeat their enthusiastic performance that brought them back into this series yesterday. At 01:22 Mikhail Varnakov used a rebouad for the early guest lead. SKA stayed the dominating team and put the hosts under immense pressure. This was rewarded with the 0-2 at the end of the first period, scored by Artemy Panarin who sniped a shot into the left top corner. In the middle period it was a similar picture. First Fyodor Fedorov scored form a short distance before Maxim Chudinov made everything clear with a precise shot. Now the hosts lost all their hopes and they even received another two goals against through Tony Martensson and Alexander Osipov who made it half a dozen for SKA. At 58:59 Ivan Vishnevsky only could score the consolation goal for Atlant and steal the shutout from a strong SKA goalie Kasutin. St. Petersburg now can win the series in front of their own fans in game #5.

SKA lead 3-1 in the series

Lev Prague (7) - CSKA Moscow (2) 1-2

The Lions from Prague again showed a passionate performance against favourites CSKA Moscow but in the end the Russians also won the fourth game of the series and gained a first round sweep against the league newcomers. Just when a Lev player stepped back onto the ice after a 5 on 3 power play for the guests, CSKA scored the lead with the man advantage through Igor Radulov at 18:40. At the start of the second period Sergei Shirokov doubled the lead in a 2-on-1 counter. Although the hosts reacted fast with a power play goal by Mikko Mäenpää they found no way to tie the match anymore.

CSKA have won the series 4-0

Slovan Bratislava (6) - Dynamo Moscow (3) 2-3

With the backs towards the wall Slovan wanted to come back into the series against current Gagarin Cup holders Dynamo Moscow but the guests made their sweep perfect. Jakub Petruzalek, Sergei Konkov and Janne Jalasvaara earned Dynamo a solid three-goal lead until "half time". With two early goals at the start of the third period through Ivan Svarny and Vladimir Mihalik the home side cut the distance to just one but Dynamo saved the win until the final whistle.

Dynamo have won the seris 4-0

Severstal Cherepovets (5) - Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (4) 3-2 OT

Also game #4 of the playoff series between Severstal and Lokomotiv ended with a one-goal difference only and again Severstal had the luck on their side to leave the series almost decided in their favour. After the early Severstal lead through Alexei Medvedev, Lokomotiv's Alexander Chernikov and Alexander Guskov turned around the result even before the first intermission. Mikhail Anisin scored the equalizer for Severstal in a close game around "half time". This goal sent the game to overtime. And this one should write history. Denis Kazionov scored the game winner for Severstal only at 118:48!! This is a new record for the longest overtime in KHL history.

Eastern Conference

Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (8) - Ak Bars Kazan (1) 1-2

In an even match the favourites from Kazan again won late in the third period. Dmitry Obukhov at 48:19 and Alexei Tereshchenko four minutes later pathed the way for the guest success. Neftekhimik risked everything during the lats minutes of play by pulling out their goalie Matt Dalton for an additional skater. This decision was rewarded with the 1-2 through Tomas Netik with 55 seconds left in regulation. Dalton again left his net but the score ddn't change anymore and Kazan can complete their sweep tomorrow.

Ak Bars lead 3-0 in the series

Sibir Novosibirsk (7) - Avangard Omsk (2) 4-1

On home ice SIbir turned around the series against Avangard Omsk. Alexei Kopeikin opened the score for the hosts already at 01:14 but only three and a half minutes later Vladimir Pervushin tied the match for Avangard. Sibir stayed the more active side and Kristian Kudroc deflected a shot by Alexei Kopeikin to restore the lead in power play at 13:31. Starting with the second period Avangard took over the initiative without creating real danger while Sibir waited for counter attacks. They had to wait until 47:44 though until Kristian Kudroc again deflected a shot for the 3-1. At 56:36 Artyom Voroshilo even added another one when he was sent alone into the Avangard zone and deked out guest goalie Karri Rämö in the 1-on-1 situation. For the higher-seeded Avangard it will be a crucial game tomorrow to see if they can come back.

Sibir lead 2-1 in the series

Barys Astana (6) - Traktor Chelyabinsk (3) 1-3

After losing their two home matches at the start of the series, this was a must-win game for Traktor Chelyabinsk and they really started their trip to Kazakhstan with a success. Konstantin Panov for Traktor and Konstantin Rudenko for Barys scored both in power play for a 1-1 after the first 20 minutes. In the middle period Traktor wre the more effective side and made everything clear through Alexei Vasilchenko and Yegor Dugin. Salavat Yulayev Ufa (5) - Metallurg Magnitogorsk (4) 4-1

With a convincing performance home side Ufa not only turned around the match against Metallurg but they also gained the lead in this first round series. Regular season topscorer Sergei Mozyakin brought the guests from Magnitogorsk in front with only six seconds left on the clock in the first period. This rather served as an extra motivation for the hosts who came out of the dressing rooms with a lot of pressure and used their second period dominance to get a 3-1 lead after goals by Nikita Filatov, Antti Pihlström and Alexander Pankov. With 15 seconds left in regulation Vitaly Proshkin even made it 4-1 with an empty netter when the guests had to risk everything by pulling out their goalie for an additional skater. Already tomorrow both teams have the chance to improve their situation in this series.
