Costumed mascots for the Ice Hockey World Championships 2014 in Minsk will be manufactured in Canada, and the artists inside the dolls will be Canadians, the head of the Belarusian Hockey Federation Evgeny Vorsin announced.
"With the help of" Infront ", the official partner of the International Ice Hockey Federation, we entered an agreement with a Canadian manufacturer to the production of five dolls - two for each arena and one spare. The cost of each doll is about four thousand Canadian dollars, but we agreed with the "Infront" to divide the cost in half, "- said Vorsin.
According to him, the production of such dolls is a complex process.
"It is particularly difficult to make a doll's head," - said the head of the federation.
Sketches of dolls are already agreed to, and now the Canadian company manufactures a test model.
"We hope to get a sample this autumn" - Vorsin said.
Canadian artists will work in the costumed characters during the World Championship.
"It's an art that requires certain talents. We invited Canadian experts, suggesting them to train our artists, but we were told that the copy will still be worse than the original" - Vorsin told.
Canadian artists will be provided with travel and accommodation to work in Minsk, he added.
