Oulu gets the lead in the series through a late game winning goal by Joonas Donskoi

In Game 1 of the Finnish Play-Off Finals the audience in Oulu saw a close match between the two best teams of regular season. After 4:18 minutes Josh Green scored the first goal of the Finals for Tappara, while Atte Ohtamaa was sitting in the box for Oulu.

Time passed and not a lot happened until Ivan Huml could tie the game at the 33:08 mark on a feed from Toni Kähkönen. 3 minutes later Josh Green and Lasse Kukkonen exchanged their business cards as Mikko Alikoski and Jukka Peltola had done in the first period already.

The last period was dominated by the excitement of the score, not so much by the on ice action. Every mistake could mean the loss of game 1. And with only 2:14 minutes to run down on the clock it was Joonas Donskoi, who gave Kärpät the first lead of the game, which could not be matched any more by Tappara.

Oulu leads the series 1-0 now and will look to make it 2-0 in Tampere on Thursday.
