Japan beat Ukraine in the battle about the two spots at the 2015 World Championship. Austria beat the home team Korea to stay on top of the second level of IIHF World Championships.
After another win today Austria still leads the World Championship Division 1A in Goyang, Korea. The two best placed teams will be promoted to the 2015 World Championship.
Japan holds the second spot after today's 3-2 win over Ukraine. Shuhei Kuji scored the first two Japanese goals. The first time it took Alexander Materukhin only three minutes to tie it, but the second time Japan kept the lead for almost 30 minutes before Andrei Mikhnov made it 2-2. Takuro Yamashita restored the Japanese lead when he scored the winner at 58:16.
Austria beat Korea 7-4 after a crazy first period that ended 5-4. The last two Austrian goals were scored in the second half of the last period. Brian Lebler scored three goals and one assist and leads the tournament in scoring with a total of five goals and three assists. Korea is still without a point and relegation gets closer.
Slovenia still has a good chance at promotion. After today's 2-0 win over Hungary they have six points, just as Japan. Two points behind Austria with two games to go. Tomaz Razingar and Anze Kuralt scored today's goals.
