Easy win for Russia

Easy win for Russia

03 May 2014 | Fredrik Pålsson

Two goals each by Tikhonov and Loktionov when Russia wins with tennis numbers against Czech Republic on day two of Oddset Hockey Games

Everything went Russia's way in the first period and it looked so easy when they skated away to a 4-0 lead. It's started with that Viktor Tikhonov showed great will at the first power play of the game and scored from close range.

Just over one minute later there was another power play goal when the same line scored again, this time Sergei Plotnikov found the net. Andrei Loktionov added the third goal five minutes later.

Ilya Zubov made it 4-0 late in the period and just seconds later Russia had a shot in the post and even if shots on goals were even it was closer to 5-0 than 4-1.

Loktionov added his second goal in the second period and even if the Czechs made the game more even they failed to beat Vasilevski who made 28 shots for the shutout. Jakub Kovar had a harder night and only had a 71.43 save percentage.

The last player to beat him tonight was Viktor Tikhonov who made it game, set and match with his second power play goal of the night.

After two days Finland leads the tournament and will win it if they take at least one point against the Czechs tomorrow. Russia can also win it if the Czechs beat Finland. The Czechs will need a big win to take the title. The host Sweden is the only team out of the title race.
