Just as against Russia Denmark was close to a win against Czech Republic. The Czechs were down 2-3 but tied it three minutes before the end and then scored the winner in the overtime period.
The game was decided at 1:01 of the overtime when David Pastrnak got his first goal of the tournament. An excellent finish on a great pass from Jan Stencel.
"It was a great pass, but the ice was bad and it bounced. It was a lucky bounce for me, but I think we deserved the luck", said Jan Stencel to iihf.com.
Denmark got the lead just before the 4-minute mark when Mads Eller scored on Denmark's first shot on goal. Nikolaj Ehlers could have made it 2-0 on a breakaway a bit later, but instead Jan Stencel tied it on the first Czech power-play.
The team scored a goal each in the second period. Jan Kostalek took the Czechs ahead and Oliver Bjorkstrand tied it.
Nikolaj Ehlers set up Mathias Asperup for a nice power-play goal at 46:05 that took Denmark ahead. Three minutes before the end Dominik Kubalik tied it when he scored off a rebound during a severe Czech pressure towards the Danish net.
