JYP wins Basel Summer Ice Hockey 2011

Jani Tuppurainen scores twice when JYP Jyväskylä beats SKA St. Petersburg in the final in Basel.

 
 
 
 
After a group stage and semi finals SKA St. Petersburg and JYP Jyväskylä played rhe final of the Basel Summer Ice Hockey 2011 in St.Jakob Arena. Game winner was Jani Tuppurainen who first tied the game 2-2 with nine minutes remaining and then scored at 4:08 of overtime.

SKA had taken the lead in the second period by Alexei Kruchinin. Sami Vatanen tied it for the Finnish team but a couple of minutes into the third period Petr Prucha gave SKA the lead back.

JYP had beaten the host EHC Basel Sharks 4-0 in the semi final. Jani Tuppurainen scored twice in that game too. SKA knocked out SC Bern 5-2 in the other semi final.

In the game for the third place Bern beat Basel 3-2.

Barys Astana Finished fifth after beating Krefeld Pinguine 10-1 in the 5th place game.
