Torpedo played a great game and humiliated Vityaz with nine goals when the Chekhov team only could wave their fists.
Avangard 1-3 AvtomobilistThe game-day began with a sensational win of Avtomobilist who beat Avangard on the road. The first goal was scored only in the third period. Denis Osipov scored a goal in power-play with Roman Cervenka in the penalty-box for holding at 40:27. Soon Alexander Perezhogin tied the game; Anton Kuryanov and Alexander Popov took part in this play. 4 minutes later Daniel Nasybullin gave his team a 1-goal lead, it was the second goal of 25-year forward who made KHL debut only this season. With Denis Kazionov's empty-net goal Avtomoblist salt away a 3-1 victory at Arena Omsk. Avtomobilist snapped their 10-game losing streak and Avangard lost the 4th of 5 games with new-old head coach Raimo Summanen.
Metallurg Mg 1-2 BarysAnother big streak was stopped in Magnitogorsk where the home team Metallurg faced Barys. Nigel Dawes with a wrist shot opened the scoring at 13:06. In the second Konstantin Romanov extended the lead of the Kazakh team. Metallurg only managed to score one time when Sergey Mozyakin made it 1-2 with his 14th goal of the season. In the ending period Magnitogorsk tried to do their best, but not even 4 minutes of power-play and playing with a pulled goalie could help them. Barys snapped Metallurg's 10-game winning streak at home and overall.
Traktor 4-3SO Ak BarsA big game was played in Chelyabinsk where the leader of the East Traktor played against Ak Bars. Early in the first the teams scored one time each; Yevgeny Bodrov scored for Kazan and Jan Bulis for Chelyabinsk. In the middle of the game Deron Quint used a power-play chance to give his team a 1-goal lead. Three minutes later Ak Bars first line scored a nice goal; Danis Zaripov was on the final act of this play. 40 seconds later Konstantin Panov returned his team the lead with a penalty shot goal. Ak Bars did it again and with 8 seconds to play in the regulations they tied the game and turned it into the overtime. Maxim Yakutsenya shot in the shootout series to lead Traktor to an important win.
Yugra 3-6 NeftekhimikYugra lost at home for the first time in the last 6 games. A nightmare 4 minutes of the first period led to three goals of Neftekhimik from Alexander Korolyuk, Maxim Berezin and Oskar Osala. In the next play Yugra scored twice and it seems that they could be back in the game. Sergei Demagin in power-play and Alexei Simakov were the authors of the goals. But Maxim Pestushko and Oleg Kvasha in the end of the second returned a 3-goal lead for the Nizhnekamsk team. Alexei Pepelyaev with a shorthanded goal cut the lead of away team at 47:38. With 3:42 to play in the third Yegor Milovzorov closed the game with a 3-6 score.
Atlant 3-4 SKAIn Mytischi Atlant lost a third game in a row and the second time for the last week to SKA. At 10:14 Viktor Tikhonov used a fault from Konstantin Barulin to open the scoring. Three minutes later Nikolai Zherdev in power-play dished a pass to Jonas Andersson who tied the game. Zherdev was first on the rebound at 31:26 to give his team a lead. Atlant gave SKA a chance to play 5-on-3 and Yevgeny Artyukhin scored for Atlant again. Two minutes later Gleb Klimenko led SKA forwards. Konstantin Barulin got a 10-minutes penalty for arguing. Janne Niskala tied the game at 52:22 with assist from Eduard Lewandowski. But Tony Mårtensson scored a game-winning goal after a nice pass from Maxim Rybin. SKA made 39 shots on Konstantin Barulin's net and still lead in the West.
Torpedo 9-1 VityazThe most epic game of the day was played in Nizhny Novgorod. Starting with three goals in the first Torpedo continued it next. Andrei Nikitenko and Dmitry Makarov twice beat Matt Dalton's net. In the second Alexei Ugarov and Alexander Yevseyenkov added their goals to a big deal. Georgy Belousov from Vityaz was the lonely player to beat Vitaly Koval. When only the third period started Vityaz began to do what they really like to do. Yevgeny Timkin and Nikita Korovkin attacked Vladimir Malenkikh and Dmitry Makarov. With a big time for power-play Mikhail Varnakov, Vladimir Gorbunov extended his team's lead to 6 goals. Another fight was between Yaroslav Tulyakov and Alexei Potapov. The game also will be remembered by a dirty hit from Andrei Posnov on Yevgeny Varlamov. Alexei Vasilyev and Martin Thörnberg closed the game with a 9-1 score. Torpedo made 47 shots on Vityaz's net and won the 11th game at home.
"Vityaz played in his style. Fans bought tickets to watch hockey and had seen a circus with the main clown of the league. It's very difficult to send all 22 players of Vityaz to the penalty box," Torpedo goalie Vital Kovaly said to Sport-Express.
Dinamo Riga 1-2SO SpartakSpartak won again on the road and again in shootout. Roman Lyuduchin early in the first scored in power-play with assists from Valery Pokrovsky and Stefan Ruzicka. Spartak tried to defend all the time and got on their net 44 shots, where only one wasn't stopped by Ivan Kasutin. At 55:50 Guntis Galvins tied the game in power –play. In the shootout series former Spartak player Marcel Hossa had two opportunities to score, but couldn't overplay Ivan Kasutin. Stefan Ruzicka's goal in the 4th round led Spartak to an important win in Riga.
