MoDo took the last playoff spot while Djurgården went down to the relegation round when the last round of Elitserien was played.
MoDo - Linköping 5-4 SOWhat a drama it was! The score was 4-4 after 60 minutes and both teams were celebrating. MoDo took the last playoff spot and Linköping avoided the relegation round. The teams took turns on having the lead but the other teams quickly tied it again. MoDo had at 1-0 and 2-1 and Linköping 2-3. When Nicklas Danielsson scored his second goal of the game for 4-3 at 15:45 in the third period shortly after Linköping missed a penalty shot things looked bad for Linköping. But they would come back a last time. 4-4 was scored at 18:48 with an extra attacker on the ice. The goal scorer was Pär Arlbrandt who scored it with his skate. A video review of the goal showed that it was no kick and the goal was allowed. And yes, noone really cared but O-K Tollefsen scored the game winner for MoDo in the shootout.
HV71 - Djurgården 2-1HV71 takes the third place and sends Djurgården down to Kvalserien (relegation round) after winning 2-1. Patrik Carlsson and Kamil Piros gave HV71 a 2-0 lead in the second period but Marcus Nilson scored a nice goal only 18 seconds after the second goal. In the third period Djurgården chased the tying goal and had 12-2 in shots on goal but failed to score and will have to play in Kvalserien to stay in Elitserien.
Frölunda - Färjestad 2-3Frölunda went from third to fifth place after losing the last game, and will miss out on the home ice advantage in the playoffs. Frölunda had the lead after the first but Färjestad turned things around in the second when Martin Sevc made one goal and one assist. Christian Bäckman tied the game early in the third but Per Åslund scored the game winner at 13:58.
Luleå - Växjö 4-1League winners Luleå finished the regular season by beating Växjö 4-1. A result that means that Växjö misses the playoffs. Despite having a playoff spot at stake Växjö made a very weak effort with only 10 shots on goal. Despite that the game was tied 1-1 for a long time but Luleå went up to a 3-1 lead with two goals within 18 seconds seven minutes into the third period.
Timrå - Brynäs 4-5Brynäs made a strong effort when they came back from being down 0-4 to win 5-4 away to Timrå. When Damien Fleury made it 4-0 at the beginning of the second period Timrå seemed to be in full control. But a goal from Calle Järnkrok gave Brynäs some energy and less than two minutes later they have added two more. The third goal was scored on power play by Sebastian Lauritzen but seemed to be saved by Lundström but video review showed the glove hand was behind the line. When Mat Robinson was sent off with a 5+game penalty in the third Brynäs scored two more power play goals to seal the turnaround. Sebastian Lauritzen scored 1+2 and notable is also that Jakob Silfverberg scored two assists and has scored in 15 games in a row.
AIK - Skellefteå 2-3 SOIt was a game that didn't have anything at stake. The guests was the better team and 43-23 in shots on goal but two power play goals from AIK's Kent McDonell took the game to overtime. Robert Rosén assisted on both goal and won the top scoring title with 60 points in 55 games. Richard Gynge left the game goalless but was the league top goal scorer with 28 goals. Other good news for AIK was that Viktor Fasth was back in goal after injury. The game was decided in a shootout were Joakim Lindström scored the game winner.
After the games the top three teams chose their quarter final opponents.
First placed Luleå chose to play seventh placed AIK.
Second placed Skellefteå selected eight placed MoDo.
Third placed HV71 took sixth placed Färjestad as opponent.
That left fourth placed Brynäs to play against fifth placed Frölunda.
The quarter finals start on Saturday.
For Växjö and Linköping the season is over while Djurgården and Timrå have to play against four teams from HockeyAllsvenskan in Kvalserien for two spots in Elitserien next year.
