Mannheim and Berlin take big step towards playoff finals

Straubing and Ingolstadt already have to win game three not to go out of the playoff semis.
Adler Mannheim - ERC Ingolstadt 4:3Shawn Belle opened the score for Mannheim already in the second minute of play when he was first to get a rebound. Ingolstadt was an even opponent and managed to get the equalizer - at least they thought they did - but Tyler Bouck's check against Adler goalie Brathwaite brought him two penalty minutes instead of a goal. It came even worse for him as the following power play - it was the first for Mannheim in this game - brought the 2-0. Christoph Ulmann was succesful with a one-timer from a sharp angle. Only 24 seconds were played in the middle period when Rick Girard received a pass from behind the net. Around "half time" the history repeated itself. First Ingolstadt's goal could not be given and then the following power play brought a goal for Mannheim. Derek Hahn had received a penalty for a check against the head of an Eagles player and then Craig MacDonald fired the puck into the right bottom corner. Another rebound - this time in a 5 on 3 advantage - let Christoph Ullmann score the 4-1. In the 37th Derek Hahn scored with a baseball swing for the guests. In the 48th Rick Girard deflected a Greilinger shot into the net but the ERC couldn't avoid the loss anymore.
Mannheim leads 2-0 in the series
Straubing Tigers - Eisbären Berlin 1:4Again Straubing had no chance at all against the current DEL champion Eisbären Berlin. Within less than two minutes of the first period Darin Olver and Constantin Braun - the second one in a power play - gave Berlin a two-goal lead. In the first situation Olver deked out the Tigers goalie Barry Brust. The other one fell from a short distance. At the end of the period René Röthke with a power play goal made it exciting again after he received a pass from behind the net and the whole right corner was free. Sharrow with a nice shot into the corner get the two-goal lead back to the Polar Bears. After a match penalty against André Rankel, the Tigers had man advantage for 5 minutes but couldn't create enough danger. Instead Florian Bush's goal with his skates decided the game and probably also the series in the 47th - after the viedeo review the referees saw no distinct kicking motion and let it count.
