Växjö Lakers lost at home to AIK tonight and have now lost ten games in a row. Top teams Skellefteå and HV71 win their games.
Växjö Lakers HC - AIK 1 - 2 (SO)
Växjö outshot AIK 39-24 in tonight's game between the two teams in no man's land between the playoffs teams and relegation round teams. But they only beat AIK's goalie Daniel LArsson once. AIK took the lead after fifteen minutes with a goal by Tobias Viklund. Tom Linder tied it a minute into the third period. The overtime period was scoreless even if Växjö had five shots on goal. For the shoot-out AIK switched goalies. AIK's WJC goalie Niklas Lundström entered and saved all three Växjö attempts. For AIK Jonas Liwing scored the winner in the second round.
The loss was Växjö's tenth in a row and the team is in a crisis. There are rumours that Czech forward Jan Hlavac is close to signing a contract.
MODO Hockey - Skellefteå AIK 1 - 2
MODO was in the lead after two periods on a goal by Marcel Müller just ten seconds before the second intermission. But the league leader Skellefteå scored twice in the middle of the hird to keep the 6-point lead of the standings. Oscar Lindberg and Melker Karlsson scored the goals.
HV 71 - Luleå HF 4 - 1
HV 71 got a solid 4-1 win against Luleå. In the first period Elias Fälth and Jason Krog took HV to a 2-0 lead before Lukas Kilström could score the only Luleå goal of the night. Jesper Fasth made it 3-1 in the second period and Anton Bengtsson 4-1 in the third. The Luleå coach Jonas Rönnqvist was not happy:
"A really bad first period, a little better second but overall we are way too bad to win against HV today", he says to C More.
Frölunda HC - Brynäs IF 3 - 2 (SO)
Yesterday Frölunda beat Brynäs in a shoot-out game and once again Sebastian Collberg was the one to decide it. He has scored four penalty shots in the last three games. Frölunda had a 2-0 lead at half the game on goals by Anton Axelsson and Fabian Brunnström but Brynäs got the game to overtime after Jesper Ollas and Jörgen Sundqvist had scored.
