Regular season champions SKA St. Petersburg have reached the Conference finals in the West already. Dynamo and Traktor could follow them already after the next game.
Western Conference
Severstal Cherepovets (5) - SKA St. Petersburg (1) 2-4
After the early guest lead through Dmitry Kalinin home side Severstal turned around the result through Denis Kazionov and Mikhail Anisin until 21:39. In an even mdidle period SKA were the more effective side though and decided the match through three consecutive goals by Yuri Alexandrov, Alexander Kucheryavenko and Evgeny Artyukhin. During the last 20 minutes Severstal tried their luck once more but the favourites from St. Petersburg controlled the match and kept their two-goal lead until the very end for the sweep in this series.

Dynamo Moscow (3) - CSKA Moscow (2) 2-1 OT
Late in the first period Sergei Soin opened the score for home side Dynamo. After a pass by Dominik Granak he tried it with a shot from a central position that went into the right corner past guest goalie Stana. At 21:57 it was Nikolai Prokhorkin who tied the match out of the blue for CSKA. Before the second intermission Dynamo had four big scoring opportunities but failed to use even one of them. Until the last 10 minutes of regulation none of the teams wanted to risk anything but then the puck went back and forth all time and both teams could have won easily with more effectivity. When everyone expected a long overtime Sergei Konkov won the match for Dynamo after only 38 seconds when he deflected a pass by Yuri Babenko from the right wing past Stana from a short distance! Dynamo now have three "match balls" and could enter the next round already in the following game #5.

Salavat Yulayev Ufa (5) - Ak Bars Kazan (1) 0-3
After two surprising losses on home ice, facvourites Ak Bars showed a solid performance in Ufa to make it 1-2 in the series. With a double at the end of the middle period Jarkko Immonen and Denis Golubev pathed the way for the success of the guests. In the last 20 minutes they concentrated on defending their two-goal advantage and with 7 secnds left to play Kirill Petrov even added the third goal for Kazan with an empty netter.
Salavat Yulayev lead 2-1 in the series
Traktor Chelyabinsk (3) - Avangard Omsk (2) 3-0
The series is getting really bitter for Avangard. Not only lay they already behind after 01:35 through a goal by Traktor's Alexei Vasilchenko but again they failed to create much danger. On the other side Maxim Yakutsenya and Andrei Popov made everything clear for the home side with a double at the start of the third period. Michael Garnett, who stopped all the 24 shots on goal he faced, had his third shutout in the third game of the series. With 11-0 goals in favour of Traktor after three matches the game tomorrow might alreay be the last of the season for Avangard.
