Dallas Stars prospect passed away for unknown causes
23 year old Norwegian Scott Winkler was found dead at his home in Asker, Norway Wednesday evening when his mother returned from work. He was unresponsive.
Winkler, recently completed his senior year at Colorado College and was prepared to join AHL Texas for 2013-14. According to Colorado College athletic director Ken Ralph the cause of his death is unknown. "The first thing you feel is shock and secondly you hope it isn't true," Ralph said. "Scott had been working very hard and done a great job preparing himself for professional camps this summer. It's unfathomable that something like this can happen to someone his age."
Also Dallas Stars released a statement mourning the death of young prospect: "The Dallas Stars are heartbroken to hear about Scott's passing," said Stars General Manager Jim Nill. "Scott was a wonderful young man with great character and a bright future; we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends."
