After an impressive 3-0 win to Canada in the preparation game before the World Junior Championship at home in Malmö Sweden moves up as the main favourite to the title.
After beating USA 4-2 a couple of days ago Sweden followed up with a very impressive 3-0 to Canada in their last pre-WJC game. Despite playing without stars Filip Forsberg and Elias Lindholm Sweden that hasn't arrived from the NHL yet, Sweden was much better than Canada and must now be considered favourites going in to the tournament.
With the arrival of Forsberg and Lindholm, three players has been scratched from the team, Ludwig Byström, Arvid Lundberg and Edwin Hedberg. Earlier one of the best juniors in the SHL, Gustav Possler left the team injured and he won't play anymore this season. Not only a hard blow for Team Sweden but also for Modo's SHL team.
Other notable results from the preperation games are USA-Finland 3-2, Switzerland-Czech Rep. 3-2, Canada-Finland 4-2. Today there are three more games played. Germany-Russia, Czech Rep - Norway and Canada-Switzerland.
