The Canucks beat Slovakia after a 1 goal deficit, Denmark without a chance against favourite USA.
Canada now 3:0 in Tournament after getting past persistent Slovaks
A shorthanded goal by Juraj Mily in the 13th minute opened the score
after his fellow Slovak Roman Grman had been benched for Roughing. The
Canadians couldn't react to the goal while the 1st period was underway
and it also didn't seem like the equalizing goal would fall in the
second period. But with 7 seconds left Brendan Perlini on a power play
scored the important goal while Haydn Fleury and Travis Sanheim gave the
pass. With 54 minutes played Perlini advanced to the game winner as he
scored the 2nd goal of the evening receiving the important pass from
Brayden Point. With that goal, the Slovaks were unable to answer and
lost the game 2:1. Slovakia now has a record of 1 regulation win, 1 loss
and an overtime loss before they face Sweden in the final preliminary
round game.
USA marches through, beats Denmark 7:0
For today's match, Mathias Seldrup got the nod over fellow netminder
Lilie. But he couldn't stop the shot from Frank Milano in the 11th
minute but stopped the other 20 shots in the first period. Jared Fiegl
in the 32nd minute (assist by Joe Wegwerth) and Jack Eichel 5 minutes
later (assists by Frank Milano & Jack Glover) increased the score to
3:0 after 40 minutes. While Seldrup's team mates couldn't account a
single shot on goal during the second period he prevented his Team of
worse, stopping 19 shots. Four goals by Jack Glover in the 43rd minute,
Ryan Hitchcock in the 46th minute, Jack Eichel in the 53rd and finally
Kyle Connor a minute later secured the 2nd win for the US Boys while
Denmark will most likely meet Germany in the relegation round.
Noteworthy is Seldrups performance, as he kept another 13 shots while
his counterpart Edwin Minney had exactly 8 shots to block.
