Lugano wins the game of the night

Lugano impress on power-play. Rapperswil gets to points at Biel. Important win for Geneva.

Lugano 3-2 Bern (SO)

On Lugano side, home team presented the same team that was successful in the first three victories of the season. On Bern side the big change was for the first time with the three Canadian players in the same line. Guy Boucher wanted to try something new with Kobasew-Ritchie-Holloway. Thomas Rüfenacht was relegated for the third line. Has expected the game between two teams that want to do very good in this year's league. After a first period scored without goals the home team was the first team to score in power-play by Brett McLean assisted by Fredrik Petterson. Bern responded with two goals in 16 seconds. First by sniper Chuck Kobasew assisted by Byron Ritchie and the second was scored by Marc Reichert assisted by Pascal Berger. Lugano ties the game in the third period in another power-play by Ilari Filppula assisted by Brett McLean. With no goals in overtime, after 17 penalty shootouts Fredrik Pettersson(who else?) gave the two points in dispute for the home team. Mention to Lugano's goalie Daniel Manzato with 30 saves.

Biel 3-4 Rapperswil (OT)

In the game between two teams with a strong Swedish influence(Umicevic, Arlbrandt, Olausson, Persson, Danielsson, Johansson), started way better the visiting team with two goals with no response. Derrick Walser scored the first goal at 02:13 assisted by Niklas Persson. Two minutes later would be Persson. Horrific start for the home team and Rapperswil wasn't done. In the end of the first period in a power-play situation one more time the Swedish connection from visiting team score. Niklas Persson scored assisted by Danielsson. Biel couldn't have started worse against a direct rival. In the beginning of the second period Rapperswil could have score the fourth goal but Mikael Johansson hit the goal post. Like last last Tuesday Biel only wake up after the first 20 minutes. Prepare us all for a 14/15 hockey season version of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr.Hyde. So the reaction for Biel started by captain Mathieu Tschantré assisted by Wetzel. Five minute later in a power-play situation with a slapshot Ahren Spylo scored after an assist of Ramon Untersanter. Pär Arlbrandt would relieve home fans with 1:14 to play in the game. One more time home team came in the long way behind. In Overtime Danielsson score the game wining goal by Rapperswil assisted Johansson. Huge mention to Niklas Persson with four points.

Fribourg 3-4 Geneva

After the good game last Tuesday, Chris McSorley opted to continue with Quebec player Alexandre Picard in the line-up. Taylor Pyatt was the player chose to not play Friday night. One more time Fribourg showed weakness in defense. In all four games always suffer more then three goals. If Fribourg want to play major roles in this year's they must get way better in that position. In the game Geneva worked more and was more organized then Fribourg. So far visiting team did points in every game and that put them in the fourth place.
