Liberec and Olomouc are on cold streak in Czech Extraliga

Oceláři Třinec (1st) v. VERVA Litvínov (2nd) 4:1 (1:0, 2:0, 1:1)

The sold-out Werk Aréna expected to watch a thrilling game between two most sovereign squads of the league. Verva Litvínov had slightly possitive bilance from previous mutual meetings and won 8 of last 9 games. But after all, picture of the play was one-sided for Oceláři exactly the same way like in the Metallurgists' previous match in Olomouc: they were easily adding goals one by another till the score was 4-0. When Verva came to its word five minutes before the end it was too late to let the thriller start. It was a better birthday gift for defender Tomáš Frolo: not only that his team lost in Třinec, but himself received a game misconduct penalty.

PSG Zlín (9th) v. Olomouc (12th) 3:0 (0:0, 2:0, 1:0)

Even though the difference between both clubs in standings was just three points, run of the game confirmed current league's trend. Zlín, last year's champion, after a poor start to the season continues recovering out of the hangover of champions and ran over Olomouc, an Extraliga's newcomer which played very well in the beginning, but especially its start to 2015 has been terrible. Thanks to two used power plays and to its flawless defensive play, Zlín takes a victory 3-0, which means for Olomouc the sixth loss in a row. 

Mladá Boleslav (11th) v. Sparta Praha (3rd) 6:3 (3:1, 3:1, 0:1)

Before this match, the overal bilance from games against Sparta was strongly negative for Mladá Boleslav. Only five wins, but twenty defeats. After yesterday, it is just one victory different, but thanks to the result's clarity and because The Skaters eagerly fights for its historically first appearance in the playoffs, it was probably the most important victory over Sparta of the six. Though being the third in the standings, Sparta added the second disgraceful defeat in a row. After 5-0 slap from Mountfield HK, they added 3-6 loss in Mladá Boleslav. Still, one of the Praguers reached a great personal milestone: thanks to an assistance on his team's third goal, Jaroslav Hlinka became with 585 points historically the most productive Spartan ever. 

Mountfield HK (5th) v. Bílí Tygři Liberec (10th) 2:1 (0:0, 1:1, 1:0)

After last 5-0 win against Sparta, The Mountfield Hradec Králové added another one. This time it was not that persuasive victory, in the game which was lacking action Hradec scored twice only, but against Liberec it was enough to complete the fourth win-in-a-row. A representative of Team Czech from recent IIHF U20 WC, Liberec goalie Vítek Vaněček, captured his premiere Extraliga game. Because Bílí Tygři lost it, Vaněček's debut was not that sweet, but there surely were moments to remember: For example Vaněček covered two opponent's penalty shots. Deservedly, he was named the best player of his team. 

Kometa Brno (4th) v. Vítkovice Steel (8th) 1:2 (1:1, 0:0, 0:1)

Also the fourth meeting of Kometa and Vítkovice went for the Steelers. The home team opened the game with a goal by Čermák. Later, while the score was 1-1, the same player had a penalty shot to use, but he missed. This after all showed up to be a key moment, as no other goal was seen until the 57th minute, when an away team defender Zíb decided about the victory for Vítkovice. On the ice of their favorite opponent, the Steelers interrupted their bad away series of three consecutive losses.

Slavia Praha (14th) v. ČSOB Pojišťovna Pardubice (6th) 1:6 (0:1, 1:3, 0:2)

The second mutual game of Slavia and Pardubice ended with the same result as well: 1:6. Yet in the second period the score was 1:2 only, but then Pardubice used three of four next power plays and that was it. For the Prague team it was like flashback of the 20 games long series with no victory which is over, but the perfromance of Slavia was typical to the series. The game was special for two men of Prague roster: Tomáš Vlasák played the game no. 800 and Pavel Kolařík the game #1000.

Energie Karlovy Vary (13th) v. Škoda Plzeň (7th) 1:3 (0:2, 0:1, 1:0)

Karlovy Vary continues on the cold streak. Before yesterday, their record included 7 losses of last 8 games. After the match against the local rival Škoda Plzeň, the home team's bad series extended. Energie was losing the match from the beginning. Just after 43 seconds Dominik  Simon scored the first of his two goals in the game. As in between of his two successful attempts Jakub Lev added one more goal, in the middle of the game it was 0-3 already. This away victory gives three very important points for Škoda in its struggle for a spot in the league's TOP6. But as the 6th Pardubice won its game as well, the gap between the two teams remains 6 points.
