Dark week for HV 71
In SHL this week HV 71 had lost 0-5 to Frölunda on Monday, 1-4 to Frölunda on Tuesday and 2-9 to Örebro on Thursday. Tonight came another disgraceful result - 0-6 in the derby against Växjö.
Växjö Lakers HC - HV 71 6 - 0 (2-0, 1-0, 3-0)
A tough week for HV 71 with 24 goals allowed in the four losses. Växjö, through Alexander Johansson and Robert Rosén, scored two goals in 24 seconds in the sixteenth minute and forced the HV coach Andreas Johansson to call a time-out. The score would stand until 38:16 when Liam Reddox scored 3-0 short-handed for the home team. Robert Rosén, Jeff Tambellini and Rhett Rakhshani scored a goal each in the third period to to secure Växjö's largest win over HV 71 in SHL.
"Of course they are better than us in the third period", says Andreas Johansson. "But in the first two we have 11-6 in scoring opportunities and are better at full strenghth.
Skellefteå AIK - MODO Hockey 6 - 1 (0-0, 1-0, 5-1)
First placed Skellefteå had no problem to beat last placed MODO at home even if they had some key players injured or suspended. John Norman scored 1-0 in the middle of period two. In the third period Skellefteå scored five goals in 11:25 to take a 6-0 lead. One of the goals was scored by 17-year old Sebastian Ohlsson who scored his first ever SHL goal.
Djurgårdens IF - Färjestads BK 2 - 3 (2-0, 0-1, 0-2)
Djurgården had a 2-goal lead after one period but Joakim Hillding scored for Färjestad in the second period and Milan Gulas scored twice in the third to keep Färjestad in the race for a top-6 position.
Leksands IF - Luleå HF 1 - 4 (0-1, 1-2, 0-1)
Lucas Wallmark scored an early goal for the visitors who then managed to stay in the lead until the final buzzer. Leksand outshot Luleå 49-28 but had a hard time beating Daniel Larsson in the net.
Linköping HC - Örebro HK 1 - 0 (0-0, 1-0, 0-0)
After three losses in a row Linköping finally got a win. Mattias Sjögren scored the only goal 11 seconds before the second intermission. Marcus Högberg in the net made 32 saves for the shutout.
Frölunda HC - Brynäs IF 4 - 0 (1-0, 2-0, 1-0)
Frölunda's recent signing Ryan Lasch continues to produce. After one goal and one assist today he now has 3+4 points in four games. Jacob Larsson scored his first ever SHL goal for 2-0. Brynäs lost one of their best defensemen, Simon Bertilsson, to an injured knee.
