Exactly in the same way as Canada passed through the all tournament, they won the final game as well. Canada win over defending champion Russia 6:1.

"We did not expect to win like 6:1. Today we just played a great game, all the way through it was a brilliant team effort", says Canadian captain Sidney Crosby.

Again, it was a festival of goals. It all started in the nineteenth minute, Cody Eakin performed a turnaround shot and it succeeded against Sergei Bobrovski, Russian no.1 goalie.

"The gold medal is really great," Eakin tells Eurohockey after the game. "It feels wonderful to hear the national anthem in the end of the tournament."

The beginning of the second session, the 22nd minute, and it is 2:0. Tyler Ennis did an uncoordinated but converting wraparound Russia net.

Since Russia only scored once his goal turned out to be game-winning: "It's a good feeling to score the game-winning goal. But it is a team sport and we won as we have a deep roster, it is a lot of talent there and we played well all the tournament along", Tyler Ennis says.

Two minutes to go in the first half and Team Canada`s captain and the fresh member of the Triple Gold Club Sidney Crosby gets a pass from behind the net and with an one-timer adds one more in Canada`s favour.

Fourty-four seconds later Claude Giroux goes 1-on-0 towards Bobrovski, but does not have full control over the puck so decides to make a brilliant pass from a turnover to Tyler Seguin who gets an open net to score in. (4:0)

"It is weird I recorded nine goals and no assistance, but I enjoy scoring goals, I am happy to do that and to win with this group of guys. I enjoyed playing on the big ice. All the rink, fans and atmosphere were incredible", says Seguin who was the leading goal scorer of the Championship.

This was all for the second period, but some more things were to happen yet during the last twenty minutes.

The fourty-eight minute and in a powerplay, Giroux completes the five after assistance of Crosby.

Less than a minute later and it is 6:0 already. Nathan MacKinnon takes both the word and the puck, shoots from the left wing and surprisingly, Bobrovski let it through.

At least one goal-score correction came in the favour of Russia, after all. It was Yevgeni Malkin who slightly deflected a slapper by Sergei Mozyakin to form up the final score to be 6:1.

Seven minutes later, the golden joy of Team Canada has started.

After five years of quarterfinal losses, Canada becomes World Champion, for the first time since 2007. Apart the cup and gold medals, Canadians also earn a special Infront Jackpot of 1,000,000 CHF for the team who passed through the tournament while achieving regulation-time-victories only (Canada`s record is 10-0 at the 2015 Worlds).

Sidney Crosby becomes yet the fifth Canadian-born player to join the Triple Gold Club, collecting hockeyists who reached all - a Stanley Cup Champion Ring, an Olympic Gold Medal and a World Championships Gold.

"Personally I am more happy to win the cup than to think about stuff like joining the Triple Gold Club", he tells Eurohockey.
