Brynäs IF and the Finnish defenseman Anssi Salmela, 31, have agreed on a contract that runs over season 2015/16. Therefore, Brynäs search for an offensiv defenseman is over.
Stefan Bengtzén, GM Brynäs IF announced today that the club have signed Finnish defenseman Anssi Salmela and that the contract is signed on one year. Salmela was the last player to join Brynäs and he will join the team during next week.
Since 2013/14, Anssi have represented MODO Hockey, HV71 and Färjestad BK in SHL (86 games total). He have also played in NHL (112 games), AHL (42 games), KHL (59 games) and Liiga (226 games). Anssi also have represented Team Finland in international competitions and tournaments.
-"He's an experienced two-way defender, but have his strength in the offensive play. He's going to be a perfect defender to our team and he's professional," Stefan Bengtzén said to Brynäs website.
