Both semi finals end with 2-1 wins.
For the fourth time this tournament Finland came from behind to win. Rasmus Asplund gave Sweden the lead after a brilliant pass by Dmytro Timashov. But in the second period Finland turned the game around after goals within two minutes by Roope Hintz and Antti Kalapudas, both time assisted by Rantanen and Kapanen. The Swedes were upset at the refereeing and even got some understanding from the Finns. Especially hard was the 2+10 penalty for checking to the head to Anton Karlsson. Finland scored the game winning goal on the following power play.
But on the other hand Sweden didn't play good enough when it was needed the most. Trailing 1-2 they only managed three shots on goal in the third and Finland could control the game for a final spot at home ice.
Also in the other semi final the winning team came from behind. Christian Dvorak opened the scoring in the first period. But it was Russia that dominated the first two periods and in the second they also took the lead. Yegor Korshkov was the hero for Russia with his brilliant solo goal. After a move that had both a faked shot and a spinorama he scored from close range. Just minutes earlier he also assisted on the 1-1 goal when Pavel Kraskovski scored on a rebound. USA made a good effort to try to tie the game in the third but couldn't beat Ilya Samsonov in the Russian net.
