A good-bye letter from Alexandre Giroux to Ambri-Piotta fans
Alexandre Giroux's contract wasn't extended by HC Ambri-Piotta but this didn't stop the forward and assistant captain to leave a heart warming letter to the fans of the biancoblu.
You can find a translation (translated with help by google translate) of Giroux's letter here:
Ten years ago I was on holiday in Ticino to visit my friend Julien Vauclair.
Coming out of the Gotthard tunnel, he showed me the Valascia and told me that there was a team playing in that stadium: HC Ambri-Piotta.
He told me a little about their story and told me that the derby are something extraordinary.
At that moment I thought that one day I would have liked to play in Switzerland.
And why not just in Ambrì?
Ten years later I played my first game at Valascia and at the end of the game, the Curva Sud yelled "Giroux Giroux Giroux Giroux Giroux", this was an exciting time !!
It was the beginning of three beautiful seasons wearing the biancoblu sweater at this extraordinary club.
In Ticino, I and my family felt comfortable right away.
I wanted to learn the language in order to better blend into this reality.
During this period we were able to appreciate the beautiful places, typical restaurants in Ticino and especially the friendliness of the people who helped us feel at home.
Serge Pelletier, I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity, all members of the Ambrì Staff, my teammates, but especially a THANK YOU to all fans who supported us during all the matches at Valascia and away.
I know that my style of play wasn't always appreciated by everyone, but trust me, I always entered the rink with the will and the determination to do my best for the biancoblu.
I also learned quickly the word "sveglia", by two or three fans sitting behind the bench .... ha ha ha .....
Ambri is a very special place: the experience and atmosphere are amazing!
Feel the curve sing the Montanara, with all the white and blue scarves raised, emotions are difficult to describe.
I feel fortunate to have been able to play here for three seasons and have wear this shirt.
I am very sad to leave this team, Ticino, its people; but the birth of my two daughters in Bellinzona, the playoffs, the derby, the goals with Inti Pestoni and choreographies by the Curva Sud, I will keep all of those great memories!
Thanks so much!
FORZA AMBRI PER SEMPRE!!!
Alexandre Giroux
