Last season's champions Frölunda looks good to qualify for the quarter finals.
The first leg of the Champions Hockey League round of 16 was played on Tuesday. Most of the games were very even and the only matchup that seems decided is Eisbären Berlin-Frölunda were Frölunda won an impressive 6-1 win on away ice and the reigning champions are not likely to lose by five goals or more at home ice. HV71 also has some control of their match against Sparta Prague with a 4-2 win away, even if Sparta's 2-4 goal in the end gave them some hope.
All the other six games were either won by a one goal margin or tied. Kalpa-Fribourg and Linköping-HIFK were both 1-1 and in Liberec there was only one goal scored when the home team beat Vitkovice. The other three games all ended 3-2, Saipa-Växjö, Bern-JYP and Lugano-ZSC. Both Bern and Lugano came back from 0-2 to win their games.
The second leg is played next week. If you are in to Hockey Betting you can see that most bookies have Frölunda as favourites to defend their title.
