Odense knocked out Donbas
Ukranian team is already eliminated, Bulldogs will play a decisive match against Angers
Last call for Odense and Donbas for a ticket to
Superfinals, after the loss of day #1. Both teams has a man down in the roster:
Frederik Soresen for home side and defender Valentin Aleksyuk for the Ukranian.
The first chance is for Donbas, Galansky stops on Nikiforuk and the following
shot of Petrukhno. Survived to a power play, Odense is threaten by Lyalka and
Butsenko but Galansky is reactive. Odense can’t take advantage on a power play
and suffered the first goal at 11:44 from Roman Blagoy: the forward, alone in
front of Galansky, fluffs the first attempt but is precise in the second with
no chance for the goalie. Same Galansky is ready to rebounds on Khakimov one
minute later. Quite unexpectedly Odense equalized at 15:53 with Tony Romano,
well assisted by Dale Mitchell.
The central period runs without emotions until
minute 13, when Galansky made a difficult save on Nikiforov and then
Tsaregorodtsev has to work on Steiner and Lyo. A series of penalties weaken
Donbas, until the second goal of Odense, scored again by Romano, clever in
deflecting a shot by Eskesen. Donbas reacts confusing, wasting a power play
while the best chance to close the question is on Dale Mitchell stick, but his
shot is rebounded by Tsaregorodtsev. Ukranian team pulled the goalie for a
confusing final assault without without even being able to shoot once. Donbas
is already eliminated and will face qualified Nottingham tomorrow, while Odense
can bet all the chances in the decisive game against Angers
MVP: Roman Blagoy – Tony Romano
