Newcomers Great Britain took on Germany in the early face off
It is twenty five years since Great Britain faced eighth-ranked Germany, then they were defeated 4-0 but could they make amends today?
After 25 years outside the Elite pool Great Britain faced Germany and although the eight-ranked team had the best of the first period Britain had gilt edged chances to open the scoring.
Just as it looked as though Britain would go into the second period without conceding, and with only thirty nine seconds left of the second period two little give and go passes at the point allowed SEITER to slot the puck past Ben Bowns to give Germany the lead.
The third period started brightly for GB as the Edmonton Oilers forward Draisaital gave the puck away behind the goal for HAMMOND to pounce in front of goal and tie the game up.
But then, Germany took the lead at the end of a powerplay when EHLITZ finished off a shot from point and shot past Bowns in the GB goal. Only two minutes later a saucer pass from the wing found DRAISAITAL in the slot and he finished clinically to put the Germans 3-1 up.
The German team then limited the GB chances and although they pulled Bowns at the end Britain couldn't add to their goal tally.
