After 8-1 and 5-0 in the previous games Canada beats Denmark 10-2.
As expected Canada had no problems defeating Denmark at the World Juniors. Already after 20 minutes the score was 4-0 and even if Denmark were allowed to play better for the two last periods Canada was in full control of the game.
Quinton Howden opened the scoring after 2:24 and Brett Connolly added the second goal a few minutes later when picking up a loose puck while playing short-handed. Canada also added two late goals in the first before adding three more goals in the second. Defender Scott Harington had one goal and two assists in the second period adding to his assist on the first goal making him the top scorer of the game.
"I think the most points I got in my OHL career was three in a game, so that tops it," Harrington said after the game.
Denmark had three chances on the power play in the second period but failed to score on them. The goals came in the third period instead when first Nicolai Meyer picked up a loose puck in front of goal and put the Danes on the board. Denmark also got a second goal when Emil Kristensen tipped in Nicklas Jensen's power play shot.
The game finished with three more Canadian goals. Brandon Gormley made it both 8-2 and 9-2 before Brendan Gallagher finished the scoring with another short-handed breakaway goal. After the game Gormley was given the best player award for Canada while Nicklas Jensen got it for Denmark.
Even if they didn't expected to win the game the Danes were disappointed after the game. "I know we're playing a great team, Team Canada, but 10 goals is too many goals," Team Denmark coach Todd Bjorkstrand said.
Denmark will finish the first round by playing Finland but are probably already looking forward to the important relegation round game against Latvia. Canada will play USA on New Years Eve, a game that probably decideds which team that will win the group and a qualify directly for the semi finals.
