Game recap

While Scottish pride was also at stake, the bigger story was Dundee moving to within a pint of the Flyers in the table, and opening up a gap on the teams below them.

Fife, who lost at home to Coventry the previous evening, went a goal up after 2:26 through Brett Bulmer, who fired home from the slot as Pontus Sjögren came across his crease. There starts were level however inside six minutes of the game, Drydn Dow the scorer at 5:46.

Tied at a goal each after 20 minutes, the Stars pushed ahead in the second. Oliver Paczkowski scored his first goal for the Stars on a 3-on-2 rush as Lukas Lundvald waited patiently for the perfect pass at 27:50. With 33:54 on the clock a funny bounce off the back boards allowed Fabrizio Ricci to play the puck to Jordan Cownie in front, and the young format batted the puck home to give his side a 3-1 lead.

Rick Pinkston rang a shot off the post as the Flyers tried to find a way back in to the game and the clock ran down. With Shane Owen pulled the visitors pushed for a goal, but eventually the gamble backfired as Brian Hart found the empty net 11 seconds to go.
