Goals and assists
Meeting again after yesterday’s tight but three-goal win for the Steelers, MK got off to the better start in Yorkshire and were unlucky not to lead with Tim Wallace coming the closest as he hit the post. Eventually though the Steelers made their pressure in the next few minutes count, Anthony DeLuca coming in at the back post to fire home from Tanner Eberle’s pass with 5:07 gone.
MK had some decent chances before the period over but did trail at the break, however they were level just over seven minutes into the next period – a mad scramble around the net eventually resulted in Nelson Armstrong managing to tap the puck home. The Steelers however only needed a little over a minute to get back in the lead, DeLuca this time the provider as his move around the net was picked up and slotted home by captain Jonathan Phillips.
MK, who didn’t create much for a lot of the final period, then piled the pressure on Jackson Whistle’s net inside the last 80 seconds – the Steelers grateful to their goalie for a couple of important saves. With no way through, the home side held on to take the 2-1 win and a much-needed four-point weekend.
