Goals and assists
A tight and dramatic game at the SSE Arena in Belfast as the Giants beat Cardiff for the second time this weekend – the Devils this time however leaving with a point after an overtime decider.
Both goalies were on top form through the opening two periods to keep the sides level as a fast and frantic game became increasingly more nervous.
The deadlock was finally broken with 46:57 gone in the game – not long after the Giants hit both posts from one shot, Blair Riley came up with a bullet slapshot from the blue-line to put the home side ahead.
That lead didn’t last for very long however – some great work to turn the puck over in the offensive zone eventually led to Joey Martin wristing his shot into the net and tying the game at 50:56. Both sides had chances to win the game as the clock ran down, Giants’ Tyler Beskorowany pulling off some fantastic last-ditch saves to keep the scores level.
With the game in overtime, Charles Linglet had arguably the Devils’ best chance to win it as he went through 1-on-0 but could not beat the Belfast netminder. At 63:22 a loos puck in the Cardiff crease was eventually tapped goal-wards by Curtis Leonard. The play was initially signalled as no goal, but after a lengthy video review the goal was awarded to give the Giants the extra OT point.
