Goals and assists
In a sold out Motorpoint Arena, and with some 4,000 people watching on YouTube, Nottingham Panthers made it back-to-back wins for the first time under new coach Rick Strachan.
After a scoreless opening period, Jon Rheault broke the deadlock with 25:10 gone to give the Panthers the lead. Only 58 seconds were needed for the Devils to respond however through Sean Bentivoglio to tie things up, as the sides headed into the locker rooms after 40 minutes even.
The only goal of the final period came at 52:36 as Luke Pither put the Panthers back ahead. Inside the final minutes the Devils pulled Ben Bowns to go with the extra attacker, and though they’d tied the game only for a wonder save from Michael Garnett to keep the puck out and ensure his team took a regulation win.
Cardiff stay top but lead by seven now, while Nottingham remain third.
