Belfast Giants completed a six-point weekend and got their third win in three games with a big win in Milton Keynes.
Only 2:08 had been played when Darcy Murphy put the visitors ahead, but they were pegged back just over 10 minutes later as Georgs Golovkovs converted on the powerplay. Murphy then struck on a powerplay opportunity of the Giants’ own 2:06 before the end of the period to put his side up at the break – and then Patrick Dwyer added to that lead just 18 seconds into the next period.
Late in the middle period Josh Roach found the net to put the Giants 4-1 up, and from there on they never looked back. Roach added another before the period was over on the powerpay to make it five for the visitors after 40 minutes.
Goals from Blair Riley and Jonathan Boxill within 2:40 of each other early in the final period extended the lead out to six goals, while Chris Higgins made it 8-1 just before the 54-minute mark. Michael Fine added a late consolation for MK, before Boxill got his second of the night to round off a 9-2 win.
