Goals and assists
Guildford missed out on the chance to wrap up fourth place and get home advantage in the Quarter-Final return leg as they slipped to a shootout defeat to Dundee – the Stars bowing out of this season with a road win.
After a scoreless opening period it seemed to be going the Flames’ way as Kruise Reddick and then a fine solo effort from Ben Davies put the hosts two up inside 14:36 of the second third. But Dundee, with just pride left to play for, had other ideas and were level before the period was over – Matt Marquardt’s high wrist shot at 35:22 and then Brian Hart’s effort from close range three minutes later levelling the scores at two each after 40 minutes.
Evan Janssen put the Flames back ahead at 42:21, but Dundee were level again 4:31 from the end as Charles Corcoran got a tip on a Drydn Dow slapshot. Each side took a point as the game ended tied after 60 minutes, but the Flames still needed another point to secure fourth in the table. It wasn’t to be however – no goals in overtime saw the game decided on a shootout, and in round five Craig Garrigan put the Stars into an unassailable 3-1 lead to see them take the extra point.
