Sheffield Steelers ended their winless streak with a 3-1 victory over rivals Nottingham Panthers, and moved top of Challenge Cup Group C.
The Steelers took the lead through Nikolai Lemtyugov's powerplay rocket 12:11 into the game, and doubled the lead on 26 minutes when the puck broke kindly in the slot to Michael Davies for a simple tap in. With four seconds left in period two most players had switched of - but not Robert Dowd who wristed a shot past Jackson Whistle to make it 3-0.
Ollie Betteridge got the Panthers on the board with 10:09 to play in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers slipped to a third successive home defeat.
