Goals and assists
Six points from three games is how Belfast Giants finished Week 10 of the Elite Ice Hockey League 2019/20 season.
Goals were in no short supply this Sunday evening at the Skydome as Belfast left Coventry with a 6-3 win against the Blaze.
It was a wild opening period in the west midlands with the teams splitting seven goals. Kevin Raine’s point effort opened the scoring at 2:57, but a fine David Broll rush levelled things up at 6:12. Just over two minutes later Broll was on hand again to put the Blaze ahead, only for Paul Swindlehurst to tie things up at 10:41. Raine found the net again three minutes later, but the Blaze only needed 30 seconds to respond – Matt Pohlkamp’s pass deflecting in off a Raine skate to make it 3-3. Ben Lake’s tap in from a Patryk Wronka pass at 18:52 completed the first period’s scoring.
Seven goals in 20 minutes were followed by none in the next 27 – Patrick Mullen wristing home after patient build up to make it 5-3 at 47:02. The final action of the game saw Jordan Smotherman beat Jamie Phillips with a shot the Blaze goalie seemed to lose in the air 10:57 from the final buzzer.
