Goals and assists
Cardiff Devils ended their Scottish double-header with two points thanks to a win against a battling Dundee Stars team.
With both teams heading into tonight’s game off the pack of losses a day earlier, Cardiff got the better start in the form of an early Matthew Myers goal with 3:22 on the board. Sean McMonagle made it two 1:40 from the end of the opening period to give the Devils a two-goal advantage after 20 minutes.
With the puck loose around Ben Bowns, Colton Kroeker eventually managed to slash the puck home from close range at 25:54 and get the Stars into the game. Unfortunately for the hosts, a blueline giveaway allowed Cardiff to break up ice, and Stephen Dixon made the Stars pay with the Devils' third goal at 27:06. After the Devils thought they’d scored but no Video Review available to use, Drydn Dow converted a penalty shot at 35:01 to make it a one-goal game going into period three.
A late powerplay for the Devils as Craig Gans sat for hooking Sam Duggan allowed the visitors a chance to make the game save, which they did with Joey Haddad’s goal from the slot with 2:13 to go.
