Belfast Giants avenged their 5-0 TV defeat in Sheffield with an emphatic 6-2 home win against the Steelers on Friday night.
Liam Reddox needed only 22 seconds to open the scoring, and with Brian Ward's goal at 15:15 the Giants led by two after the opening period.
Patrick Mullen made it three 4:45 into period two, with Reddox then bringing the score to 4-0 at 26:19 after which the Steelers called a timeout. Ben Lake added to the Giants tally just past the halfway mark of the game as the Giants took a five-goal lead after 40 minutes.
Brendan Connolly extended his points-streak to 13 games with the Steelers' opening goal at 45:04 with Nikolai Lemtyugov making it 5-2 just over 90 seconds later. Ryan Lowney restored the home side's four-goal advantage at 48:37 with the final goal of the game.
The win takes Belfast to within two points of the Steelers at the top of the table.
