Cardiff Devils went top of the Elite League thanks to a four-goal win at home against Sheffield - the side they knocked off the top for the first time since November.
The Steelers had the better start but found themselves a goal down through Stephen Dixon 2:42 in, after he found the puck alone in the slot. Joey Haddad doubled the lead tipping a Gleason Fournier shot from the faceoff at 5:46, but Sheffield were back in things under seven minutes later thanks to David Phillips' shot from the point going through a screen and beating Ben Bowns. Blair Riley put the Devils back two ahead at 14:53, however a bad defensive zone giveaway allowed the Steelers to pull the score back to 3-2 just 11 seconds later. Masi Marjamaki putting home a rebound from Mark Richardson's shot made it 4-2 37 seconds before the period was over.
Joey Martin put the Devils 5-2 ahead on a breakaway 4:03 into period two as he tucked the puck under an out-rushing Tomáš Duba.
Evan Mosey made it 6-2 at 45:24 followed by a Blair Riley breakaway just over four and a half minutes later to put the Devils on to seven. Lucas Sandström pulled a goal back with just under five minutes to play as the game ended 7-3.
