A dominant performance from the Sheffield Steelers ensured they went back joint-top of the Elite Series standings, to set up a Super Sunday clash with the Manchester Storm to lead the competition after five rounds.
The Steelers ran in three goals inside the opening two and a half minutes at the Motorpoint Arena, Tanner Eberle (0:26), Sondre Olden (1:08) and Jason Hewitt (2:10) the early scorers.
The impressive Olden added his team's fourth with just over 12 minutes played, with Jeremy Beaudry making it 5-0 at 17:18.
Jackson Whistle replaced Ben Bowns in the Panthers' net for period two, and his side got themselves on the board through Austin Cangelosi 4:58 into the frame. However, Josh Waller's first goal in Steelers' orange put Sheffield back five ahead 90 seconds later. Kevin Domingue brought the score back to 6-2 at 30:38, but again the Steelers responded - Liam Kirk the scorer some four minutes later.
Domingue grabbed his second of the game 2:45 into the final period, and when Cangelosi got his second the Panthers were back to within three with just under seven minutes to play. A Tanner Eberle goal at 54:15 put paid to any faint comeback hopes and cemented the Steelers' victory.
