Glasgow Clan completed a 3-0 sweep of the Panthers in Nottingham thanks to an overtime win live on Premier Sports.
The Panthers had the better of the opening period, outshooting their opponents 12-7 over 20 minutes. They deservedly took the lead inside five minutes with JC Brassard's shot going under Shane Starrett's pad with 4:18 played. While the Clan netminder would have wanted that one back, he was called into actual several times during the first to keep Clan just one behind.
Mathieu Roy had a glorious chance to tie things up early in period two for the Clan, but Carr pulled off a good save. The Panthers' netminder had a few hearts in mouths when he raced out of the net to play the puck, and while he didn't clear it entirely the Panthers were able to remove the danger. Starrett was almost beaten by the puck deflecting over his head and hitting the crossbar, but luckily for the Clan goalie the puck bounced clear.
The scores were eventually levelled through Roy with 1:50 left in the period to make it all to play for in the third.
Period three itself was a cagey affair although both sides did have chances to take the lead. Clan rang a shot off the post inside the ten minutes, before the Panthers survived a late charging call on Jordan Kelsall as the game went to overtime.
With the Panthers attacking at one end, the puck was turned over and Clan broke 2-on-1 the other way where Guillaume Gauthier found debutant Braylon Shmyr for the finish in close to give Clan the extra point.
