Goals and assists
The Cardiff Devils took both points on the road in Manchester but needed overtime to get past the Storm, who battled back from a goal down twice to earn their point.
Cardiff led after a quiet opening period at the Storm Shelter. Having not taken advantage of an early penalty on Médric Mercier, Cardiff did take the lead with 16:58 played with Josh Lammon getting the final touch on Be O'Connor's shot through traffic from the point.
Storm levelled at 27:14. Great hands from Adam Brady in the neutral zone saw him play in Jared Vanwormer, who in turn set up Curtis Hamilton for a nice finish past Taran Kozun. However, the Devils were back ahead on the powerplay exactly four minutes later with a well-worked goal, Justin Crandall's pass to the off-side setting up Brodie Reid for the finish.
After blocking shots in their own end, the Storm tied things up at 49:44 when an ich-perfect pass from Hamilton set Jared Vanwormer clean through o Kozun and he finished high to the delight of the home crowd.
Manchester had a late powerplay to try and win the game in 60 minutes but couldn't force a clear-cut scoring chance.
Into overtime, Scott Simmonds was called for tripping 42 seconds in, and at 61:28 Matt Register fired in from the blue line to earn Cardiff the extra point.
