Game recap

Guildford Flames got their second win on the road in Scotland in a week with an overtime victory in Glasgow as the Clan welcomed back full capacity with 2870 spectators in attendance.

The Clan and Flames were level after 20 minutes at the Braehead Arena thanks to a pair of goals inside the first 10 minutes. Guillaume Gauthier poked home the rebound from a Dyson Stevenson shot to give the hosts the lead at 4:12.

Guildford levelled at 9:33 through Jamal Watson who jumped into the play and beat Shane Starrett with a cool wrist shot.

After two goals in 10 minutes, the sides then each held out for the next 50 minutes in a very tight encounter with no further goals, sending the game into overtime with each team picking up a point.

Nolan LaPorte was assessed a tripping 27 seconds into the extra period, giving the Flames a 4-on-3 opportunity. Head Coach Paul Dixon called a timeout to brief his troops ahead of it starting, but the Flames saw their advantage come to an end without really troubling Starrett.

Good work from Robert Lachowicz behind the net led to the Flames' winning it in OT, Chris Gerrie eventually slotted the puck past Starrett, upheld after video review, to give the Flames the extra point at 63:56.
