Nottingham Panthers ended their five-game losing run with a three-goal home over Dundee Stars on Sunday afternoon.
Five goals went in during the opening period which saw the Panthers come out with a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes. The Panthers led just 3:37 in through Matthew Lane who was given just a little too much time in the slot to pick his shot.
Lane doubled that lead at 6:42 to give the Panthers an early two-goal lead, but Spencer Dorowicz tapped in at the back post on a delayed penalty to bring Dundee back to within one not three minutes later.
Dorowicz then tied the game with 81 seconds left in the period, only for Jeremy Welsh to put the hosts back ahead 11 seconds later.
The Stars created the better of the chances through the opening phases of period two, but were undone by an excellent Sean Richards pass to tee up Jordan Kelsall for the back post finish with just over 13 minutes left in the second.
Dundee gambled with the extra skater in the closing stages but Christophe Boivin finding the empty net with 1:03 to go rounded off a much-needed win for the Panthers
