Game recap

Glasgow Clan beat Fife Flyers in a shootout in Kirkcaldy after tying the game inside the final minute as the sides shared eight goals in regulation time.

The home side led three times in the game but were pegged back on each occasion. Janne Laakkonen put the Flyers ahead with 5:01 played when he poked in the rebound from a Jonas Emmerdahl shot on a delayed penalty. Fellow countryman Janne Kivilahti doubled the advantage at 10:28 before Gary Haden pulled one back for the Clan with 12:34 played,

25 seconds into period two, John Dunbar was left all alone in the slot to tie the game up, but the hosts were back ahead at 34:26 thanks to Chris Lawrence tapping in Lucas Sandström's one-handed backhand pass across the slot. Haden scored with 81 seconds left in the period to make it a three each head into the final period of regulation.

Kivilahti put the Flyers ahead again with a well-placed tip on Christian Hausinger's throw on net at 42:19. IT was a lead the home side held until the dying stages of the period, but the home side were punished for a needless Chris Lawrence roughing minor in a scrum after the whistle. Haden scored the tying goal on the resulting powerplay with 29 seconds remaining.

Flyers had the better of the chances to win it in overtime, but with no goals things were decided in a shootout. With no goals in the opening five rounds, Kevin Massy then put Clan ahead in sudden death only for Zack Phillips to level things up on the next shot. Both were sent out again by their respective teams but couldn't score on their next attempts, but Gabriel Chabot did beat Shane Owen in Round 8 to put Clan ahead. John Muse denied Lawrence's effort to secure the bonus point for Clan.
