Cardiff Devils went four points clear at the top of Challenge Cup Group B thanks to a 5-3 win in Guildford on Wednesday night.
Cole
Sanford had the Devils ahead inside four minutes on the powerplay to
open the scoring. Sam Talbot levelled at 11:42, but 14 seconds later
Jamie Arniel had the visitors back ahead.
Brandon Alderson poked
the puck over the line at 29:40 to make it a two-goal game, and although
Ryan Hughes pulled one back for the hosts at 30:!6, Sanford's second of
the game with 57 seconds left in period two made it 4-2.
Alderson
finished in close with 7:44 remaining to put the Devils htree up,
leading to Kyle Locke and Cole Ully being penalised for some afters.
Ryan Tait got the third for the Flames with exactly three minutes to
play, but they fell two short at the final buzzer.
